Below are my sketches of my stop motion project. I relied on my Pinterest board a lot for this project. With minimal prior knowledge of this type of motion graphic it became a helpful research and inspirational tool. The best idea I have from my sketches is the last one. In addition to that I created a storyboard to reiterate my idea and execution. The final idea for stop motion is the progression of a champagne bottle opening. I thought of starting the bottle in one specific position and progressively turning until the champagne sprays out of the bottle in a celebratory fashion.

My Pinterest board below highlights a variety of stop motion projects I found as inspiration for my own. The basic concept of stop motion is a series of photographs that create that motion. When looking at my pins I have come to realize I appreciate the bright colors and lighting, especially lights which is an important component to this motion graphic. Through my research and sketches I realize how important developing a plan is. To view my Pinterest board fully and the stop motion in action click here.
This is initial attempt at my stop motion. For this project I used a mini bottle of champagne and decorative silver and gold stars to create the idea of the champagne bottle popping. The movement is quick but I think it works well by highlighting the essence of the story through motion. My original video was too dark therefore I brightened it up to create a clearer motion design. If I were to recreate this project I would create better transitions and potentially slow down the movement slightly per frame.

Below is a second attempt at the same concept but in this case a different idea. The execution on this one I think is better because it shows the slight back and forth movement of the bottle. This movement may mimic the motion of popping a champagne bottle better. More stars appear as the frames continue on which emphasizes the idea of more champagne coming out of the bottle overtime. For the future I think I could work on creating seamless transitions that aren’t as choppy throughout.
